How it works

Six stages, in the order the work actually happens.

Each stage has a purpose, a set of things you do, and something you produce. You move forward when the work is ready — at your own pace.

  1. Stage 01 / 06 · Discover

    Find your starting point

Get an honest picture of where you are today.

    What you do
Complete a short discovery assessment about your background, skills, setup, experience, and goals.
    What you produce
A mapped starting point and a first recommended step.
    Moving forward
You know which stage to begin in — and why.
  2. Stage 02 / 06 · Understand

    Understand what you already bring

Connect your past work, study, or life experience to VA work.

    What you do
Review common VA services and map your transferable skills against them.
    What you produce
A short list of strengths and a chosen first focus.
    Moving forward
You've picked a direction to build toward.
  3. Stage 03 / 06 · Build

    Build practical skills

Learn the core skills working VAs rely on every day.

    What you do
Work through focused lessons — communication, organisation, tools, and your chosen focus area.
    What you produce
Completed lessons and notes you can return to.
    Moving forward
You understand the skills well enough to use them.
  4. Stage 04 / 06 · Practice

    Practice realistic work

Turn knowledge into ability before a client is involved.

    What you do
Complete simulated tasks written like real client briefs, with checklists to work against.
    What you produce
Finished practice deliverables — always labelled as simulated.
    Moving forward
You've done the work, not just read about it.
  5. Stage 05 / 06 · Prepare

    Prepare your professional presence

Present your capability clearly and honestly.

    What you do
Select your strongest work, write short project descriptions, and shape how you introduce yourself.
    What you produce
A portfolio of evidence and a professional profile.
    Moving forward
You have something concrete to point to.
  6. Stage 06 / 06 · Launch

    Start pursuing real opportunities

Take action in the real world.

    What you do
Find openings, apply, reach out, and follow up — tracked in your personal opportunity list.
    What you produce
Applications, conversations, and a record of what you've pursued.
    Moving forward
You're doing the work of finding work. That part is yours.
